He was the beloved husband and best friend of 47 years to Carole Wingfield (nee Smith). Cherished father of Christopher (Olivia) Wingfield of Chamby, Switzerland and Stacey (Shane) Stuart of Berlin, Germany; dear Bapa of grandchildren William and Oriana, Willow, Maya, Brynn and Kian. Peter was predeceased by his mother Dorothy (nee Hoover) and father Bill Wingfield, sister and brother-in-law Ann and John Rowbottom, brother and sister-in-law Steve and Lois Wingfield. Pete will be greatly missed by his little sisters, Jane White of Simcoe and Kelly (Ron) McEachen of Parkhill along with his special brother and sister-in-law Stephen and Terri Smith of Ayr. Peter's greatest love and life's passion was teaching. He began his career in 1964 and taught at various elementary and secondary schools including Delhi District Secondary School and Port Dover Composite School. Peter's professional and caring leadership along with his selfless love of his students and schools touched many lives. Peter was an active coach of many sports; including basketball, volleyball and track & field. He was a member of the Simcoe Curling Club, Norfolk Golf and Country Club and the Lynn Meadows Golf Club. Peter was an accomplished artist whose humour, love of travel and life will leave an indelible mark. A celebration of life will follow in the Spring. Deer Lake council follows through on appealed decision and formally rejects crematorium application - The Western Star

Mayor Dean Ball said there are likely several undertakings within Town Centre that the municipality has actually approved in the past, but which are not specifically mentioned in the town's plan. He gave the example of the cannabis outlet that recently opened in the area. It was not listed as a specific discretionary use when it was approved since the sale of cannabis has only recently become legal. "This is the first time this has happened to us that I'm aware of," said Ball. "There are lots of things not listed as itemized as discretionary use that we've done in the past. "I guess with this being a bigger issue with a higher profile and closer to people's hearts, the appeal board decided the decision should be reversed." Ball said the original decision was based on information provided by staff and this discretionary use issue was not foreseen. He said Parsons could always apply again, but the mayor doesn't believe that will happen. Parsons could not be reached for comment as of deadline Tuesday to see if he still plans to pursue the crematorium. He has said in the past that, despite the rising demand for a crematorium service in the Deer Lake area, it would not be feasible for his business to build one somewhere other than at the funeral home's location on Main Street. A new municipal plan the town is awaiting approval by the provincial government does specifically mention crematoriums as being permissible in other, more industrial areas of town. Neither Critch nor Brent could be reached for comment either Tuesday. John Wellon was one of the residents who opposed the crematorium being built on Main Street and attended Monday evening's meeting. He was happy to finally see the appealed decision get reversed. "I was pleased with the outcome," he said. "It seems to be a done deal now and that's what we were fighting for. I'd like to thank the appeal board more than the council for making it happen. Naples St. Patrick's Day Parade draws crowd estimated at 40,000 - Naples Daily News

Murphy, a native from Roundstone, County Galway, in Ireland, and a Naples resident since 1964, has enjoyed playing the role of St. Patrick at the parade for the past three years. Meanwhile, it took about five hours of prep time to make sure Bandit was ready to lead the rest of his team through Downtown Naples. Based out of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Bandit is used to his life as a traveler. He's one of the eight world-famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses that marched the parade on Saturday. The Guns and Hoses Pipes and Drums group out of Lee County played traditional Irish tunes with bag pipes and drums, adding to the Irish culture seen along the streets. Scott Smith, a police officer out of North Port, picked up the bag pipes about 15 years ago. "They just kind of grab you," he said. "It's really traditional and it's about what it represents. We play at a lot of funerals for military and first responders." ...

In his youth, Bingo was in a hurry to get out of Brandon, Manitoba, where he said there were only three occupations – policeman, and he was too short to be one; crook, and he was too nice to try that; and carnie. He hitched a job on Royal American Shows working the sideshows and then Myerhoff Shows. And then he met Simba, the lion. "The lion was jealous of me," Jackie said. Simba the Lion loving on a young Bingo Hauser. From Simba, Bingo moved on to an alligator, a boa constrictor and a monkey. They all grew up in the Hauser household, some in the kitchen, some in the living room. Once the monkey escaped and hid in a farmer's truck to make his getaway. Hours later, Bingo had to bail the monkey out of jail. They travelled with the menagerie for years, but then the animals grew too big. The time came to switch from fur to iron. Bingo knew he had to "get rid of anything you have to feed all winter." Jackie didn't want Bingo to get into the carnival business, but he did. Like Tony, Bingo was gregarious and bigger than life. Jackie remembered that when he asked her to marry him, she thought, "You and me and how many others?" But he managed to propose and they bought a Merry-Go-Round and West Coast Amusements was born. There was a carousel horse from that Merry-Go-Round at Bingo's funeral Oct. 16 in Langley, B.C., spruced up and set up by his son Bob. West Coast Amusements now includes more than 100 rides and operates three units. The season begins in April and ends in September. The family has the route covered and is working on details of the 2016 season now. On RCS, Bil Lowry has taken over Tony's responsibilities. Cam, who was the love of her life. She was also predeceased by her parents, Norman and Loveday, her brother Mackay, and her sister Carol. Gaydha was born and raised in Manitou, Manitoba. After graduating high school, she went to business college and began a career working in various administrative positions including with the Manitoba Telephone System and the Manitoba Department of Agriculture. Soon after, she met Cam, her true love, and they married on August 6, 1960. After settling in Winnipeg, they welcomed their three daughters and began the family life they so enjoyed. Cam’s career took the family from Manitoba to Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. During that time, Gaydha was a dedicated wife and mother, roles she was very proud of. Following retirement in 1990, she and Cam returned to Red Deer, Alberta, where they would enjoy spending time with their family and especially their cherished grandchildren. Those who knew Gaydha were touched by her strength, spirit, enthusiasm, and passion. She would take the occasions in life to celebrate others with generosity and joy, providing an example that will endure in the hearts of her family.
