Crash claims Falkland man - Salmon Arm Observer

A Falkland man has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash near Revelstoke Monday.Stephen ‘Steve’ Babij, 51, was killed in a crash on the Trans Canada Highway, while driving a semi-trailer. The March 13 fiery crash occurred at 9 a.m. when an oncoming semi lost control crossed the centre line.Babij’s dog, Zak, was also killed in the crash.The driver and a passenger in the other semi were seriously injured.The incident involved four vehicles as a third semi collided with the crash, unable to stop, while an SUV also suffered damage. The drivers of both these vehicles suffered minor injuries.The fire-filled crash closed Highway 1 for the majority of the day.Babij, who was born in Vernon, leaves behind his wife and step-daughter.He was known as the ‘hay guy’, hauling hay and other items throughout Alberta, B.C. and Washington.“Never on time, but always delivered,” reads his online obituary. “His true passion was farming and he was also an avid snowmobiler. Body of 19-year-old woman found in B.C. home - Summerland Review

British Columbia's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the body of a 19-year-old woman was found early Thursday in a home in Richmond, B.C. Police say the death is suspicious and they have identified the dead woman as Aspen Pallot. RELATED: 1 dead after shooting in Chilliwack, homicide investigators deployed The investigation team says shortly after the woman's body was discovered a man was arrested and he remains in police custody. An autopsy will be conducted on the body to determine the cause of death.
